UCAT Preparation in Malaysia Klang

The UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) is a required admissions test for most medical and dental schools in the UK, and for medicine and dentistry programmes across Australia and New Zealand under UCAT ANZ. It’s used alongside academic grades to assess the cognitive and behavioural qualities considered important for future healthcare professionals.

This test was previously called UKCAT. It was renamed UCAT in 2019 — if you’ve seen it referred to either way, they’re the same test.

My Home Tuition offers one-to-one UCAT preparation covering every current section of the test, taught by experienced tutors.

The UCAT changed in 2025 — here's the current format

If you’ve seen older UCAT guides describing five sections including Abstract Reasoning, that material is out of date. Abstract Reasoning was removed from the UCAT starting with the 2025 test cycle and is no longer part of the exam, in either the UK version or UCAT ANZ.

The UCAT is now a computer-based test made up of four separately timed sections, each multiple choice:

What Each Subject Covers

Verbal Reasoning

Careful reading and analysis of written passages, and judging whether a specific conclusion can genuinely be drawn from the information given — not whether it sounds reasonable in general. No outside subject knowledge is assumed or needed.

Decision Making

Applying logic to reach a conclusion: evaluating arguments, interpreting statistical and graphical data, and making a reasoned decision under time pressure.

Quantitative Reasoning

Numerical problem-solving using skills expected at a good GCSE pass level. The emphasis is on working through a problem efficiently, not on advanced mathematics.

Situational Judgement

Reading real-world scenarios relevant to healthcare settings and judging which factors matter most and how to respond appropriately — this section reflects the professional judgement medical and dental schools want to see, not just academic ability.

Our UCAT preparation course

What is included

  • 10 sessions, 20 hours total, one-to-one
  •  Coverage of all four current sections Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement
  • Timed practice under real test conditions, since pacing is one of the most common reasons capable students underperform on the UCAT
  • Strategy tailored to each section, since the four sections test genuinely different skills and reward different approaches

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about UCAT preparation in Malaysia

Yes. The test was renamed from UKCAT to UCAT in 2019. It’s the same exam under a new name  if you’ve seen either term used, they refer to the same test.

Four: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement. Abstract Reasoning was removed from the test starting with the 2025 cycle and is no longer assessed.

Approximately 100–110 minutes of testing time including section instructions, following the removal of Abstract Reasoning, which shortened the test from its previous format.

The three cognitive sections (Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning) are scored out of 2700 in total. Situational Judgement is reported separately as a band from 1 to 4 and isn’t part of the numerical score.

Once a year, within a fixed testing window — roughly mid-July to late September for the UK test, or early July to early August for UCAT ANZ. Registration and booking open several weeks to months earlier and have strict deadlines.

Yes, the test is delivered at Pearson VUE test centres including locations in Malaysia, on the same testing window and same test as UK/ANZ-based applicants.

RM 5,000 for 20 hours of one-to-one tuition, plus a RM 300 registration fee.

Given the test only runs once a year within a fixed window, most students start preparing several months before their intended testing window opens, rather than in the weeks immediately before.

IELTS Preparation in Malaysia

IELTS test preparation Malaysia helps students sit one of the world’s most widely accepted English proficiency tests, used for university admission, immigration and work applications across the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and beyond.

My Home Tuition provides one-to-one IELTS preparation across all four skills — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking — for students across Klang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur and online throughout Malaysia. Lessons focus on whichever skills a student finds hardest, rather than spending equal time on strengths they’ve already got.

IELTS Is Going Fully Computer-Delivered

Worth knowing before you start preparing: IELTS is retiring the paper-based test worldwide. The final paper-based sitting in most markets was 27 June 2026. From that point on, every IELTS test — Listening, Reading and Writing — is taken on a computer at the test centre. Speaking is unaffected either way; it remains a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner.

The test content, question types, scoring criteria and 1–9 band scale are all unchanged. What’s different is the medium: typing rather than handwriting, an on-screen interface, and only around 2 minutes to review Listening answers at the end. We build practice around the current computer-delivered format from the start.

IELTS Academic

For students applying to study at a university or college abroad. Reading and Writing content is more academic in style.

IELTS General Training

For people migrating to an English-speaking country, completing secondary education there, joining a work/training programme, or meeting a visa requirement. Reading and Writing content is more workplace- and everyday-context oriented.

Listening and Speaking are identical across both versions — only Reading and Writing differ. Both are scored the same way.

IELTS Test Format

SectionTimeNotes
Listening30 minutesSame for Academic and General Training
Reading60 minutesContent differs between Academic and General Training
Writing60 minutesTwo tasks; Task 2 counts for roughly twice the weight of Task 1
Speaking11–14 minutesFace-to-face interview; may be scheduled the same day or within a week

Total test time is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes for Listening, Reading and Writing combined. There's no pass or fail — each section is scored on a Band scale from 1 to 9, and your overall score is the average of all four, rounded to the nearest 0.5.

What Our IELTS Course Covers

Speaking

Writing

Grammar accuracy, correct essay/letter structure, brainstorming templates, and how to analyse graphs and diagrams for Task 1.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions About IELTS Preparation in Malaysia

No, not from 27 June 2026 onward in most markets. IELTS is now fully computer-delivered for Listening, Reading and Writing. Speaking remains a face-to-face interview regardless. The test content and scoring are unchanged — only the format of sitting it has changed.
Academic is for university or college study abroad. General Training is for immigration, work programmes, or completing secondary education in an English-speaking country. Listening and Speaking are the same for both; only Reading and Writing differ.
Around 2 hours 45 minutes for Listening (30 min), Reading (60 min) and Writing (60 min) combined, plus a separate Speaking test of 11–14 minutes.
Each of the four sections is scored on a Band scale from 1 to 9. Your overall score is the average of all four, rounded to the nearest 0.5. There’s no pass or fail — universities and immigration bodies set their own minimum band requirements.
Yes, provided everyone is at a similar English level. Group sizes of 2, 3 or 4 students receive a 20%, 30% or 40% discount per person respectively.
RM 2,800 for 20 hours of one-to-one tuition plus 4 full mock exams, with a RM 250 registration fee. Group rates apply if you’re preparing with friends at a similar level.
This depends on your current level and target band score — a student close to their target needs less time than one starting further behind. We’ll assess your level in the first session and give you a realistic timeline.
Yes, most of our IELTS students prepare online, and our practice is built around the current computer-delivered test format.
It varies by student, which is exactly why we assess all four skills first rather than assuming — some students are strong conversationally but lose marks on Writing task structure, others read fluently but under-perform in Listening under time pressure.

UKCAT Test Format

The UKCAT is a two-hour computer-based test comprising five separately timed sub-tests. These sub-tests assess various mental abilities deemed crucial by university medical and dental schools. Each sub-test features multiple-choice items.

Verbal Reasoning:

The Verbal Reasoning sub-test evaluates your capacity to carefully read and analyze information presented in passages. It assesses your ability to determine whether specific conclusions can be drawn from the provided information. Importantly, prior knowledge is not expected to answer the questions.

Decision Making:

The Decision-Making sub-test tests your aptitude in applying logic to arrive at decisions or conclusions. It evaluates your ability to assess arguments, analyze statistical data, and make informed decisions.

Quantitative Reasoning:

Quantitative Reasoning assesses your proficiency in using numerical skills to solve problems. While it assumes familiarity with numbers to the level of a good pass at GCSE, the focus is more on problem-solving than on numerical facility.

Abstract Reasoning:

Abstract Reasoning evaluates your ability to identify patterns among abstract shapes. This test challenges you to identify relevant patterns amidst distracting material, thereby assessing your ability to critically evaluate, generate hypotheses, and adapt your judgments as needed.

Situational Judgement:

The Situational Judgement Test (SJT) measures your capacity to comprehend real-world situations. It assesses your ability to identify critical factors in situations and determine appropriate behavior for addressing them effectively.
